For admission to undergraduate degrees (higher certificates, advanced certificates, diplomas, and degrees), honors degrees and postgraduate diplomas, and master’s and doctoral degrees for the upcoming academic year, visit the Stellenbosch University online application window.

Applications for admission in 2024 are accepted starting in May and ending in August.

eligibility prerequisites

Candidate must be 18 years old.
in good standing at your place of attendance
GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (GPAs under 3.0 will be considered on a case-by-case basis and will require additional documents outlined in a section below)
standing as a sophomore, junior, or senior when the program starts. When applying, candidates must have completed at least three semesters of coursework (first-semester sophomores can apply). Students with a sophomore standing may not be able to enroll in certain courses at the local university. For more information, kindly get in touch with your IES Abroad Representative.

Online registration/Self-registration

The vast majority of students can register online, and they are encouraged to do so by using our online registration portal.

Through my.sun.ac.za, self-registration is possible from any computer with an internet connection.
Students with outstanding proofs of admission (such as matriculation exemption certificates, results in advice, or post-matriculation proofs of admissibility) or those whose readmission to the university are not in order will not be able to self-register. Please be aware that due to an institutional decision that no student would be academically excluded in 2024, all students registered in 2023 were automatically readmitted for 2024.
who’s outstanding fees on their student account with the university (debtors). The student will be able to self-register if the student account and the first installment of registration are fully paid, are captured by the Student Fees Division, and the student meets all other requirements. who is enrolling for the first time in a postgraduate program in 2024 after being accepted by the university (postgraduate newcomers)?
who enroll in special programs, do so as special students, or do so after having changed their program.
who end the year with a grade other than “pass year” on their academic record.
