UJ Online application fee 2024-2025
UJ fees typically increase by 5 to 10% per year. To obtain the final fees for the upcoming academic year, please contact the University in November.
Note: Prior to receiving their study visa, all recognized International candidates must show proof of available funds for the full tuition fee of the academic year as well as proof of Medical Aid administered in South Africa paid for a full academic year of study.
All privately funded international students (i.e. self, parent/s, or guardian) must pay the following tuition and residence fees (on-campus residences):
- Before or at the time of registration, a deposit of 30% of the tuition and residence fees is required.
- 35% of tuition and residence fees are due by April 30th.
- 35% of tuition and residence fees are due by July 31.
If full fees are paid before or at the time of registration, the University of Johannesburg will offer a 5% discount.
- Prior to registration, international levies for the year 2021 will be published.

ALL INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS SHOULD BE AWARE OF THE FOLLOWING:
- Submit a completed application form with supporting documents, as well as an R200.00 non-refundable application fee.
- Online applications are completely free.
- Documents supporting the application may be uploaded to the application platform or emailed to intappsdocs@listsrv.uj.ac.za.
- When applying with international credentials or currently in Grade 12, final school leaving results are required (Final Grade 11 results)
- Sworn English translation of a valid passport, identity document, or birth certificate (Documents issued in any Language other than English) Provide proof of English proficiency where English was not used as a medium of learning and teaching (for Undergraduate programs, the University prefers the applicant to take the IELTS with an overall score of 6 and the TOEFL with an average score of 80-104). You can also take the University of Johannesburg English Language Programme Test (UJELP). If you decide to take the University of Johannesburg English Language Programme Test (UJELP), Mr. Malibongwe Masango will be your point of contact. - If an international applicant’s first and second choices are both unsuccessful, the International Admissions Office will offer an alternative choice option if they meet the requirements.
- If you require on-campus housing, please submit a completed residence application form along with your application to study at UJ.
