UKZN online application dates 2024-2025. As the universities and colleges all over the country start to release the dates of their admission for the next academic year, UKZN is the latest to do so.

Application Deadlines

  • MBCHB’s 30th of June
  • All other programs end on September 30th.


  • R240 (SA citizen)
  • R300 (International student)
  • R465 (late application fee for South African residents) and R575 (Late application fee for international students)


Please keep in mind to include the following documents (where applicable):

  • A certified copy of your ID/passport.
  • Certified copy of your National Senior/Matric Certificate, O/A Levels, or other relevant school leaving qualification/certificate.
  • If you are an international applicant, you must provide proof from Universities South Africa (formerly known as HESA) that you are eligible for admission to degree studies at South African universities. The undergraduate prospectus has additional information.
  • Certified copies of your degree certificate(s), academic record, and certificate of conduct, if you attended other colleges.
  • Proof of English competence is required for international applicants from non-English speaking nations.
  • The South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) evaluates previous qualifications gained at overseas universities (outside South Africa).
  • If you are applying for a master’s or Ph.D., you must submit a research proposal/proposed title for your dissertation/thesis.
  • If you are an international student, you must have a valid study visa to study in South Africa.
  • Please ensure that you have read the requirements above before applying online.
  • Please verify that you have all of the HESA/SAQA documents needed to complete your application.
  • When paying the application fee, please use the reference APPN (followed by your student number).
    Please give the system 24 to 48 hours to process your payment.

Step 1: Obtain an application form.

  • First-time candidates must go through the Central Applications Office (CAO). You will be able to apply online through UKZN’s application portal.

  • Step 2: Fill out your application form completely.

*Keep in mind that you’ll need an email address.

  • Step 3: Include all supporting documentation.
  • Step 4: Fill out the student accommodation form. This is a required step in the application process.
