Wits Online application requirements 2024-2025

For the current academic year, the University of the Witwatersrand WITS Online Application window for admission into undergraduate qualifications (higher certificates, advanced certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas & degrees), Honors degrees & postgraduate diplomas, and Master’s & doctoral qualifications is now open.

  • If you want to apply for undergraduate or postgraduate programs at the University of the Witwatersrand, you must do so through the University of the Witwatersrand’s online application page.

DEADLINE FOR UNIVERSITY OF WITWATERSRAND REGISTRATION

Applicants must keep the following application deadline in mind:

  • WITS Admission Registration 2024/2025 will close on or before September 2024.
  • The deadline for all Health Sciences programs, Architecture, Audiology, Film and Television, and Speech-Language Pathology undergraduate applications in 2024 is June 2024.
  • The University of the Witwatersrand Application Portal is set to close on the same date.

Please upload any supporting documents.

  • If you did not upload supporting documents when you applied, you can do so now through the student self-service portal https://self-service.wits.ac.za.
  • Enter your person number (not your T number) and the first six digits of your ID to log in.
  • Current Students: Upload your final Grade 11 grades (no hardcopy required).
  • Already Matriculated? Please upload certified copies of all your matriculation/foreign school leaving certificates.
  • Other Postsecondary Institutions: Upload a certified copy of official academic records, including a statement/certificate of good conduct, stamped by the institution’s registrar, for ALL tertiary registrations. (Please keep in mind that interim, self-service generated results will only be considered for initial assessment purposes for GEMP applicants.)

Admission Points (AP)

  • Are you an applicant who is currently writing or has completed the NSC matriculation? If so, please read the information about admission requirements below.

NB: This is only a guideline. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee a spot. Final selection is made based on space availability, academic performance, and other entry requirements, as applicable.

Wits calculate the points score for each subject as follows:

  • English must be studied as either a home language or as a first additional language.
  • All numerate programs in Engineering and the Built Environment, Commerce, Law and Management, and Science require mathematics.
  • Some degrees accept Math Literacy (see Admission Requirements (NSC)).
  • When calculating the admission point score, Wits makes no distinction between designated and non-designated subjects (APS)
  • The APS is calculated using the top seven subjects, including Life Orientation.
